SANARI Classic Kyoto House selected KYOGO Nishijin fabrics to ornate their sliding doors, requesting us to come up with the most adequate design matching the initial ambiance of the room.
Take House is a one-story house with a sturdy ridge beam, typical of the classic Japanese residence with a Japanese-style bedroom
and a dry landscape garden. Instead of discrete and unobtrusive, we decided to install a gorgeous and powerful design for the front side of the sliding doors, as a contrast to a more serene and elegant layout for the back side inside the bedroom. Taking as a theme one of the most famous and ancient Japanese tale Taketori Monogatari, “The Tale of
the Bamboo Cutter”, the bamboo grove at the front was designed with abundant gold threads to express light and depth, while the surface of the water gracefully lit by the moon at the back was rendered with glaze of silk and silver yarn.
